Co-efficient of Friction Measurement
Description
The Davenport Friction Tester accurately measures the co-efficient of friction of plastic films and paper. The equipment
provides measurement of the kinetic co-efficient of friction plus a peak hold facility, complete with digital display, to capture the static friction transient force. A 500g weight is supplied for a mid-point check on the calibration.
The test sample is held on a horizontal bed which incorporates an optional vacuum for securing large samples of plastic
film. A further sample of the same material is attatched to a sled which exerts a known force, and is placed in direct
contact with the test sample. Two sleds and cutting templates are included for the BS and ASTM standards. The sled is pulled across the horizontal bed either at a pre-set and constant speed as designated by the standard or a user selectable speed up to 1180mm/min. The simplicity of this system has made it very popular for QC/QA checks on the
production line. Proven use by unskilled personnel in the film, paper, packaging, inks and coatings manufacturing.
