L'Adhesion testing è la misura della forza di adesione di una superficie rispetto al suo substrato. Quando un adesivo è legato a un oggetto o a una superficie, numerose forze fisiche, meccaniche e chimiche entrano in gioco, le quali possono influenzarsi a vicenda. Queste devono essere testate prima che un prodotto possa essere usato. La gran parte dei differenti prodotti adesivi, dei substrati e delle applicazioni, così come il comportamento adesivo di prodotti come creme, gel, pitture e vernici, ciascuno di essi necessita di testare l'adesività in modo specifico. Il test delle proprietà adesive dei materiali è spesso associato ai sigillanti adesivi,ai laminati, alle parti elettroniche, ai cosmetici, agli imballaggi per prodotti medicali e a tutte le tipologie di imballaggio generico in cui è necessario valutare la resistenza di chiusura dell'adesivo, e infine alle applicazioni in cui la misurazione della forza sigillante è di fondamentale importanza per la ricerca e per il controllo di qualità. Lo Stud pull coating adhesion testing è un esempio molto comune di test utilizzato nei rivestimenti di microelettronica o in altre forme di applicazioni su substrati rigidi di "pellicole sottili".

 

Prove di misurazioni tipiche includono:

  • Peel tests a 180* e 90*
  • Lap shear tests per misurare la forza di taglio strappo di adesivi per l'incollaggio di due superfici insieme e per la saldatura: come le saldature di metallo e plastica.
  • La forza di coesione - aderenza di un materiale di rivestimento, misura la forza di adesione di un materiale di rivestimento su un substrato, come ad esempio le pitture o vernici.

Adhesion is the bond strength measurement of a coating to a substrate. When an adhesive is bonded to an item or surface numerous physical, mechanical and chemical forces come into play, which may have an affect on each other. These need to be tested before a product can be used. The large number of different adhesives products, substrates and applications as well as the adhesion behaviour of products such as creams, gels, paints and varnishes all require different adhesive tests.

Adhesion testing is often associated with adhesives, sealants, laminates, electronics, cosmetics, medical device packaging, general packaging seal strength and applications where bond strength measurement is critical for research and quality control applications. Stud pull coating adhesion testing for instance is a very common test used in microelectronic coatings or other forms of "thin film" application on rigid substrates.

 

Typical test measurements include:

  • 180 degree and 90 degree peel tests
  • Lap shear tests for evaluating the shear strength of adhesives for bonding two surfaces together and welds such as metal and plastic welds
  • Coating cohesion - adhesion or bond strength of a coating to a substrate such as paints or varnishes
  • Tackiness
  • Stringiness
  • Creep
  • Cure behaviour
  • Tensile strength
  • Seal strength, peel strength and adhesion strength tests to determine adhesion strength of flexible plastic packaging


Adhesion testing can be carried out on a range of Lloyd Instruments materials testing machines together with NEXYGENPlus data analysis software when more comprehensive testing results are required.
